Bear Hunting Clinic to be offered in Diamond Springs
The California Department of Fish and Game's (DFG) Advanced Hunter Education Program is offering a bear hunting clinic February 13 in Diamond Springs. The one-day class will include information about bear biology, habits and habitat; styles of hunting bear; gear and garb; dog breeds used to hunt bear; pre-season scouting; bear signs; shooter positions; and how to field dress a bear.OLYMPIA ? Hunters may now purchase and submit applications for a 2010 spring black bear hunting permit, applicable to specific areas of western and eastern Washington.
Bear harvest permits to increase 22 percent over 2009 - Feb. 02, 2010
MADISON - Wisconsin wildlife biologists have upped the number of available black bear harvest permits by 22 percent over 2009. A population research study cooperative effort between the University, the DNR and the Wisconsin Bear Hunters Association indicated that the state's bear population was higher than previously thought. Accordingly, wildlife officials increased permit levels last year based on the increased population estimate and have done so again for the 2010 bear hunting season.

A severely injured female Louisiana black bear was found and reported to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) on Sunday, Jan. 10. The bear was discovered and reported by a resident on Coulee Road near Lydia in Iberia Parish.
West Virginia Hunters Harvest 1,828 Black Bears in 2009 - Jan. 14, 2010
West Virginia hunters harvested 1,828 black bears during the combined 2009 archery and firearms seasons, according to Chris Ryan, Supervisor of Game Management Services for the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. The preliminary harvest data for the combined seasons in 2009 is the second highest harvest on record behind only 2008.
2009 New Hampshire Deer and Bear Hunting Season Results - Dec. 23, 2009
CONCORD, N.H. -- Based on preliminary deer registration tallies, N.H. hunters harvested 10,390 deer during the 2009 season. This preliminary statewide total kill was down about 5% from the actual 2008 deer kill of 10,916, but is comparable to season results prior to 2006.
