Deadline To Purchase Black Bear Hunting Licenses Is Aug. 31
The deadline for black bear hunters to purchase licenses for the fall season is Aug. 31.West Virginia hunters harvested 1,828 black bears during the combined 2009 archery and firearms seasons, according to Chris Ryan, Supervisor of Game Management Services for the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. The preliminary harvest data for the combined seasons in 2009 is the second highest harvest on record behind only 2008.
Bear Hunting Clinic to be offered in Diamond Springs - Jan. 12, 2010
The California Department of Fish and Game's (DFG) Advanced Hunter Education Program is offering a bear hunting clinic February 13 in Diamond Springs. The one-day class will include information about bear biology, habits and habitat; styles of hunting bear; gear and garb; dog breeds used to hunt bear; pre-season scouting; bear signs; shooter positions; and how to field dress a bear.
2009 New Hampshire Deer and Bear Hunting Season Results - Dec. 23, 2009
CONCORD, N.H. -- Based on preliminary deer registration tallies, N.H. hunters harvested 10,390 deer during the 2009 season. This preliminary statewide total kill was down about 5% from the actual 2008 deer kill of 10,916, but is comparable to season results prior to 2006.

The California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) announced the closure of the statewide black bear hunting season on December 17. Under regulations adopted by the Fish and Game Commission, the black bear season is closed when DFG verifies 1,700 bears are taken by hunters.
Kentucky's First Bear Hunt In Modern Times Coming Up - Dec. 11, 2009
Frankfort, KY - On Dec. 19, Kentucky hunters will make history. The first bear hunt in modern times will take place in Harlan, Letcher and Pike counties. The hunt is open to any Kentucky resident who purchases a bear hunting permit in addition to an annual hunting license, unless license exempt.
