DEPARTMENT KILLS BEAR AT SCENE OF SUNDAY?S ATTACK - Jun. 28, 2010A 250-pound male black bear was caught and killed early Monday at the Sandia Mountains picnic ground where a young woman was attacked early Sunday morning, the Department of Game and Fish announced today.

SANTA FE -- Wednesday, Feb. 3, is the deadline to apply for New Mexico 2010-2011 oryx licenses, bear Wildlife Management Area permits, population reduction hunts and special spring turkey permits. Online applications must be made before 5 p.m. Mountain Time on the deadline day. Paper applications must be delivered or postmarked on or before the deadline day.
Seven more black bears might be taken in Utah next spring or fall - Nov. 24, 2008
The Division of Wildlife Resources is recommending that a total of 316 hunting permits be available for Utah's 2009 spring and fall seasons. In 2008, a total of 299 permits were available.
